BelAZ is a Belarusian automobile plant and one of the world's largest manufacturers of large and especially large dump trucks. BelAZ is a site for one of the largest Commonwealth of Independent States investment projects. The factory finalized two of the three scheduled phases of the technical re-equipment and upgrades. The Quality Management System applied in research and development, fabrication, erection, and after-sale service of the equipment complies with international ISO 9000 standards.
The history of 'BELAZ" is an era, full of colors and events, it's thousands of mining dump trucks and other equipment manufactured on assembly lines for seven decades.
By a Decree of the Supreme Council of Belarusian Soviet Socialistic Republic dd. 11.09.1946 No. №137/308 it was decided to build a new plant for manufacturing peat extracting vehicles.
The company released its first product - the water sprinkling truck D-298.
The company was renamed "Belarusian Autoworks". A new 25-tonnes MAZ-525 truck was produced. First models of MAZ-530 truck with a payload capacity of 40 tonnes were produced.
In 1978, Start of production of aircraft tugs for towing aircraft with a takeoff weight of 100 tonnes.
In 1983, The 1000th unit of BELAZ-549 mining dump truck with a payload capacity of 75 tonnes was assembled.
Awards:
BELAZ-540 was awarded a golden medal at the international exhibition in Leipzig, Germany. The plant was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labour.
The 1000th gold medal was granted to BELAZ-548A at the anniversary Leipzig exhibition. The USSR State prize was granted to 11 employees of the plant.
