Minsk and Belarus are full of places connected to Jewish history. This folk is the most ancient on our territory. A lot of buildings don’t carry anymore their original functions, but they can be easily identified with the help of characteristic features.

The most famous monument in Minsk is the memorial complex “Jama” (a “pit”). Since 1947 there was a modest monument with the text in Yiddish: To Jews-victims of Nazism, which was built by efforts of Belarusian Jews. It was the first and the only monument for a long time, dedicated to the victims of the Holocaust on the territory of the entire former Soviet Union. Besides, it was the first monument in USSR, on which it was allowed to make an inscription in Yiddish.

During the excursion, You’ll visit the place where the Minsk Ghetto during the Second World War was located. Now there are several monuments to the victims of Nazism and also preserved tombstones from the Jewish cemetery of those times.
