The excursion brings you to the historic part of the city with the preserved architecture of 18-19th centuries. You’ll visit the oldest church of Belarus Annunciation church, which dates back to the 12th century. Town Hall is the symbol of a free town. During the tour, you will walk along the walking area of the city, which preserves the histories and traces of such famous people as Ilya Repin, Kazimir Malevich, and Marc Chagal. You’ll have a chance to visit an art gallery and museum-house of Marc Chagal.

Vitebsk is a city of rich and long artistic tradition. Evidence is not only famous artists who worked here but also festivals which have a place in Vitebsk such as "Slavic Bazaar" or "Vitebsk leaf fall".

Vitebsk is a city in northeast Belarus. It's known as the birthplace of the artist Marc Chagall. His early works are displayed in his former home, now the Chagall House Museum. Across the Daugava River, Marc Chagall Art Center features his illustrations and woodcuts. The Town Hall houses a branch of the Vitebsk Regional Museum, with weapons and artifacts. The reconstructed Annunciation Church dates from the 1100s.

A summer Amphitheatre is the main concert stage of “Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk” music festival. The construction itself is unique and there is no lookalike in Europe. This festival annually attracts thousands of people from all over the world. During the week-long festival not only concerts are held, but also craft fairs and outdoor exhibitions take place. The historical center of Vitebsk changes into one huge fair with overcrowded streets and constant music playing. It’s a great time in July!

Uspensky Cathedral

This cathedral has a beautiful interior which you can spend some time marveling at. In addition the walk there is enjoyable with nice views afforded from its elevated position. It is also known as the Assumption cathedral. Although destroyed and rebuilt, there have been spiritual/religious buildings on this site for over 600 years, so it is a special site.It was damaged or destroyed many times and even blown up in 1936, and there was then a factory on the site. But the church tradition has continued and this building was reconstructed in the 1980s. It is a vibrant living church now in a beautiful place where two rivers meet. Be aware that women should wear a headscarf and men should take hats off as these are working places of religious practice, not museums.

If you are wearing short skirts or shorts you can get a wrap-around skirt at the entrance (applies to men and women). I take a silk headscarf in my bag all the time, which scrunches up to nothing, and have never had any difficulty going to such places.
